Fuel filter 16911-ZZ5-003
Fuel filter 16911-ZZ5-003
This fuel filter keeps particles and, depending on the design, water out of the fuel flow.
It is located in the pre-filter, low-pressure or injection supply area. When saturated, the flow resistance increases and the engine can lean or stop under load.
Component classification: Fuel filter / water separator
System function: Filtration of fuel and separation of water or particles
Compatible manufacturers: Honda / Tohatsu
Compatible models: BFTW60A BFT60A
Reference numbers:
- Honda: 16911-ZZ5-003
- Tohatsu: HZZ5-16911-003, HZZ516911003
FAQ
What exactly is the task / function of the component?
The fuel filter separates particles and, depending on the version, water from the fuel flow so that the carburetor, pump and injection components remain protected. Its flow resistance must also be within the permissible range under load.
How can you recognize a defect / typical symptoms?
Typical symptoms are a drop in performance, poor load running, unstable idling, stalling at high demand or visible water in the separator. A clogged element increases the negative pressure upstream of the pump and reduces the throughput.
How do you check / test the component?
The degree of contamination, water entry, flow direction, tightness and, if necessary, pressure or vacuum loss during operation are checked. The sealing surfaces and threads of the filter head should also be checked.
When should it be replaced?
The filter should be replaced after maintenance intervals or immediately in the event of water, heavy soiling, corrosion or throughput problems. After tank cleaning or contaminated fuel, it is advisable to replace it early.
How do you check compatibility?
The OEM number, filter type, thread or plug-in connection, separator function, flow direction and installation dimensions must be compared. For water separators, the sensor connection and cup design are also relevant.
