The fuel pump is part of the fuel system of an outboard engine. Its task is to draw fuel from the tank and deliver it to the carburetor or injection nozzles at the required pressure. Without sufficient fuel pressure, the engine cannot run correctly or will not start.

Modern Suzuki outboard engines with fuel injection systems use electric fuel pumps. These generate a constant pressure for the fuel supply to the injection system.
