Volvo Penta Duoprop B propeller
The Volvo Penta Duoprop B series consists of two counter-rotating propellers mounted one behind the other on a double propeller shaft. The front propeller sits on the inner shaft near the gearbox, while the rear propeller is mounted on the outer shaft.
The system uses the flow of the first propeller and converts it into additional thrust.
Technical features
Typical features of the Duoprop B series:
-
Aluminum propeller set
-
two counter-rotating propellers
-
3-blade front propeller (left)
-
3-blade rear propeller (right)
-
Matched propeller pairs
The propellers are available in sizes B1 to B8. Each size defines a specific pitch combination between the front and rear propellers.
Compatible Volvo Penta drives
Duoprop B propellers are used on the following Aquamatic sterndrives, among others:
-
Volvo Penta 280-DP
-
Volvo Penta 290-DP
-
Volvo Penta DP-A
-
Volvo Penta DP-B
-
Volvo Penta DP-C
-
Volvo Penta DP-D
-
Volvo Penta DP-E
Operating principle
The torque effect is reduced by two counter-rotating propellers. The flow behind the first propeller is used by the second propeller, which reduces slippage and increases efficiency. At the same time, vibrations and noise are reduced.
The selection is made via the size designation of the series (e.g. B3, B4 or B7), as the front and rear propellers are always used as a matched pair.
