Fuse Link-80 Amp 866730T01

This fuse interrupts the circuit in the event of an overcurrent or short circuit and thus protects the assigned electrical function.

It is located in the fuse holder, wiring harness or control unit. Thermal overload, contact resistance or moisture lead to triggering or contact problems.

Component classification: fuse / fusible link / line protection

System function: electrical line protection against overcurrent or short circuit

Compatible manufacturers: Mercury / MerCruiser

Compatible models: various Mercury and MerCruiser engines - check serial number

Reference numbers:

  • OEM / REFERENCE NUMBER: LINK-80
  • OEM: 866730T01

FAQ

What exactly is the task / function of the component?
The fuse protects the circuit against overcurrent and short circuits by triggering irreversibly at a defined current. It is therefore a protective element and not a control element.

How do you recognize a defect / typical symptoms?
A defect is indicated by failure of the associated function or by repeated tripping if there is still a fault in the circuit. Corroded contacts in the fuse holder can also cause symptoms similar to a defective fuse.

How do you check / test the component?
The continuity and voltage drop across the fuse are checked; it must also be clarified whether there is a short circuit or overload downstream. Visual inspection for interruption of the fusible link, thermal discoloration and loose fit is also included.

When should it be replaced?
The fuse is only replaced after the cause has been eliminated and with an identical rated value. Repeated triggering is a diagnostic indication and not a reason to use a larger fuse.

How do you check compatibility?
The OEM number, current rating, design, voltage range, holder type and, if applicable, characteristic curve must be matched. Mechanically identical fuses with the wrong nominal value are not compatible.
