Function & purpose of the flame filter
A flame filter combines two functions:

Filtration of fuel impurities

Suppression of flashback
It is installed in the fuel inlet and prevents a flame from backfiring through the fuel flow in the event of a fire. Flame filters are particularly important in maritime applications, as fuel vapors pose an increased risk in confined engine compartments.
