Impeller for Evinrude/Johnson: Ensure pump, shaft connection and dimensions are correctly aligned

For the assignment at Evinrude/Johnson The specific motor, drive, or system design is crucial. An impeller is not selected solely based on its outer diameter. Shaft mounting, width, number of blades, and pump housing must be compatible with the installed seawater pump.

At Evinrude and Johnson Model and serial number details, as well as two-/four-stroke design and existing OEM number, should be used together.

Check shaft mounting against outer diameter

  • Motor or pump model and series range
  • Internal recess or wedge, groove or toothing
  • Outer diameter, width and number of wings
  • Lid seal, wear plate and condition of the pump housing

Assembly check: Check for missing or broken blades during disassembly. Fragments can clog downstream coolers or heat exchangers. Do not operate the new impeller dry.
